OCT Imaging Course: a new way to learn intracoronary imaging

In June 2025, MInDSiTE launched a new training line in León focused on Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Together with Abbott, we developed an OCT Imaging Course designed to incorporate interactive tools and new methodologies into intracoronary imaging education.

What is OCT?

Optical Coherence Tomography is an intracoronary imaging technique that provides highly detailed images of the inside of the coronary arteries.

Its use provides valuable information for understanding coronary anatomy and contributes to the planning and assessment of angioplasty procedures. Learning how to correctly interpret OCT images is therefore an important part of training in interventional cardiology.

Learning to interpret images in a different way

The OCT Imaging Course was created with a clear objective: to make learning OCT more intuitive, practical and interactive.

During the course, we incorporated different digital tools that enabled participants to work on image interpretation and reinforce the knowledge required to understand this intracoronary imaging technique.

We also introduced gaming dynamics, adding elements of interaction and participation to create a different training experience.

This allowed participants to explore the theoretical and practical fundamentals of OCT through a methodology in which active participation played a central role.

Our collaboration with Abbott enabled MInDSiTE to combine technological innovation with practical training in an area that opened up new possibilities for our educational model.

The course in León marked the beginning of a new area of development focused on intracoronary imaging, which would later continue through different educational activities and national congresses.

An experience that reflects our approach to medical education: incorporating new tools to make complex content increasingly practical, visual and interactive to learn.
