MInDSiTE on El Hormiguero: Bringing Interventional Cardiology Closer to the Public

february 2025

In February 2025, MInDSiTE appeared on El Hormiguero, one of Spain's most popular television programs on Antena 3, alongside Dr. José Avellán to bring interventional cardiology closer to the general public.

The collaboration provided an opportunity to explain, in a clear and engaging way, some of the procedures currently performed to treat coronary artery disease and acute myocardial infarction. Through live demonstrations, viewers were able to gain a better understanding of how interventional cardiologists treat blocked coronary arteries and how technology continues to transform cardiovascular care.

For MInDSiTE, taking part in the program was much more than a television appearance. It was an opportunity to bring interventional cardiology beyond the hospital environment and make it more accessible to people who may have never been exposed to this field of medicine.

Healthcare innovation is not only about developing new technologies or improving clinical procedures. It is also about communicating knowledge, making complex concepts easier to understand, and helping society appreciate how medical innovation ultimately benefits patients.

Medical simulation plays a key role in this mission. It allows complex procedures to be recreated in a safe environment, demonstrates how specialists are trained, and highlights the importance of hands-on practice before treating real patients.

MInDSiTE's participation in El Hormiguero also showcased a new approach to education in interventional cardiology—one built around simulation, technology, and experiential learning.

Bringing these topics to a broad audience helps foster scientific curiosity, makes medicine more accessible, and highlights the expertise and preparation behind every life-saving procedure.

Because innovation is also about communication.

And bringing cardiology closer to society is another way of building a safer, more informed, and better-prepared future for healthcare.
